| hayes | let me light up the sky light it up for you So technically, Hayes was not supposed to be here. He was a loner, this was a pack's land. The thing was, the loner territory around here was shitty as hell and he wasn't about to drink that disgusting, diseased water and hide in a forest where he'd probably die. As curious as he was about it, he wasn't that stupid. Curiosity kills the cat, not the wolf. Hayes was an adventurous fellow, yes, but the thing was... he wasn't adventurous on his own. He liked to keep things fairly safe, see. He could see into the future, but only into others' future. So if he ventured out alone there was a good chance that he'd get himself killed. He didn't get to go on any fun adventures very often anymore. There weren't many wolves out there willing to do the stupid things that Hayes did, especially with a stranger. But hey, that was just his life-style.
Hayes often had trouble keeping one friend with him for too long. He was a flirtatious, charming wolf and he didn't even realize it half the time. A lot of the times he found a female companion, either he'd like her or she'd like him. There was never any mutual feelings (and when there were, that was just him being bored with his life.. he'd never really had a big crush on any wolf). The biggest of these situations was with Latti, and he still missed her. She was his best friend. No one could hold him back, though. No one would ever tell him how to live his life. That was probably how he lost a lot of the important wolves in his life, by thinking things like that.
The wolf sighed, and laid his head down on his paws. Hayes was very alone in this world, and he knew it. He always got rid of the people who cared about him. He always left them. Hayes was bad news for a lot of wolves. Thinking about this made his dark brown ears droop a bit, and his big, chocolate eyes looked a little sad. He was a bigger wolf. Hayes wasn't freakishly large, but he was definitely on the bigger side. His shoulders were broad and his frame narrowed down to his hips. His legs were long and there probably was not one ounce of fat on him. His underbelly was very light brown, and he gradually got darker up to the top of him. His tail went from white to darker brown in color. His eyes and ears were big, but not too big for his face. Overall, Hayes was pretty handsome (and he knew it!).
It wasn't the nicest day outside. The sun wasn't out and it was cool but it wasn't cold. The sky was a dark gray, and it looked like it might rain later. It was late afternoon, and the wind was blowing. Hayes had come into this land for water, but got distracted when he'd seen the lovely view from here. The water was thrashing around below him, hitting off the rocks and retreating back. The clouds were rolling and went on as far as he could see. He could feel his stomach growling, though. Eventually he would need to get up and get food. For now, though, he was content. As long as he remembered to live in the moment, Hayes was happy.

Something happened here... Something had happened here that caused great sadness in her heart. Sorin looked out at the water, her black fur clinging to her body to make her appear smaller than normal. The water chilled her down to her bones, her body trembling, trying to warm her up. None of that registered though, her mind was set on one thing. Figuring out what had happened here.
Her eyes traveled from the dark sea to the clouds above. They seemed to be rolling, changing, shifting in a threat that they would soon break free and send their wrath down at full force. They would spare no one when they did, either. The wind picked up then, Sorin closing her eyes while it whipped her fur around and sent another violent shiver through her body. Something slipped down from her neck, curling around her body like a blanket of leaves covered the ground. Her shivering stopped, the wind no longer cut through her fur like a dagger, and the water no longer splashed up to drench her to the bone. She closed her green eyes then, just listening to the waves far below. Maybe they held the secrets to her life, maybe they were the answer to everything.
A thin smile formed on her jaws, Sorin taking a few steps back from the cliff to watch waves splash up upon them. Looking down at the ground, she stared at it in confusion. It was black. She turned around, her eyes surveying the ground around her. Splashes of red and black stained the ground, sending another shiver along her small form. That had been blood. She didn't know how her knew, but she did. Her eyes traveled along the ground, her paws soon following as she walked across what appeared to be a battlefield. The path lead her along the cliff's edge, flashes of what she assumed to be the battle flashing before her eyes. Had she been in this battle?
She stopped suddenly, looking at one spot where there seemed to be no blood. It was a rough circle, but it was there. Was this some form of fighting back? Did these wolves get out of there alive? Were they the ones who killed everyone else? Sorin hesitated over the spot for a few minutes before continuing on, her eyes flicking up to see a large wolf standing up along the cliff's edge. She stopped, her tail brushing the ground, her ears pointed forward in curiosity. Sorin didn't make a move for the wolf, oh no. She stood where she stopped, following his gaze out into the ocean. Sharp rocks jutted out below her, disappearing and reappearing when the waves retreated before the next big wave crashed on the cliff's wall, sending another shower of water her way. She closed her eyes, turning her head away from the shower of icy knives as it splashed up against the very edge of the cliff. Winter was coming. She could feel it, not only in the temperatures but in the way everything felt. Cold. Disconnected. Uncaring.
Sorin paused when the wave retreated back over the cliff, turning her eyes once more upon the stranger. He seemed to be a loner, like herself. Was she a loner? She must have been, who would want a monster like her in their pack?

| hayes | Hayes flicked his ear to the side. Although the ocean was beating against the cliff, he could hear the pawsteps of another wolf nearby. The first time he glanced in her direction, he saw that she wasn't looking at him. She was staring intently at the ground - was something there? He had to wonder. In curiosity, he continued watching for a moment. He took in her shivers, slow steps - purposeful steps -, what in the world was she watching? He couldn't understand. Giving up, he flicked his big brown eyes back to the waters, and thought some more. He really needed to stop thinking about the past. If there was one thing that Hayes had that was too big, it was his conscious. He'd always felt bad about up and leaving those who cared for him, but... he cared too much about his own happiness and well-being to really worry enough to do anything about it. Hayes was pretty blunt with things, it was true, and he'd never sugar-coat anything. If he was going to leave you, he would tell you that straight-up... unless he really cared.
But that was unlikely.
Hayes stood then, as he felt a cold breeze upon him. He thought that maybe it was time for him to leave. He stretched out, and sighed. He needed to clear his head. Maybe a good hunt would help that. It was nearing his dinner time, anyway. Just then, he felt eyes upon him. When he looked back over to the female, she had just moved her glance to where he'd been looking again. This time, he kept his eyes on her. His ears flicked forward in curiosity of her; this girl really seemed like someone he might get a good conversation out of. When she looked at him again, Hayes was ready for it. "Hello," he greeted her in a casual fashion, "magnificent weather, isn't it?". Obviously it was just small talk, but it was sarcastic and light - the way he liked to keep things. Hayes wasn't big on being serious - with anything. He knew when he had to be, but he just chose not to be a lot of the time.
Hayes quickly took in the looks of this female wolf, whoever she might be. She didn't look big at all. She actually looked rather tiny. She was kinda cute, in a sort of dark, different way. Perhaps a better word would be... unique. In a good way, of course. She didn't look like the pack-type of wolf, and didn't have the scent of this pack. Perhaps she was a loner, as well? That would be better, she wouldn't kick him back into the loner lands then. Hayes couldn't quite tell what it was. Something about this female wolf intrigued him. He wanted to talk to her, she just kind of looked like someone worth his time and attention. Of course, however, he could always be proven wrong. No harm in trying.

Sorin stared at the stranger in an indifference of an expression, her gaze locked on his eyes. Eyes were the window to the soul, she knew that. She knew that somehow, but she didn't know where she learned it. It didn't make a difference, she couldn't see anything from the distance she was at anyway. When his question reached her ears, she ears swiveled to lay flat against her head, her green eyes looking up at the dark sky. The weather? She watched the clouds rolling, felt the cold wind, and the sounds of the waves hitting the cliff far below. It was cold. It was damp. There was no way this was favorable weather. Still, she did not answer. She watched the clouds instead, as though she could see something in them. Her eyes blinked as she searched the clouds for something... anything really. An answer to why she could only remember up to when she woke up this morning. An answer to why she remembered only violent scenes, the reason why she was standing here at this moment and not elsewhere. Confusion crossed her face, tilting her head to the side. Why was she here? Surely she could just leave this place? She wasn't tied to this land in any way, after all. The only thing that would be holding her back was the strange wolf that seemed protective of her that had went off some time ago... Him, and this stranger. Her eyes turned back to the male, and Sorin sat down where she stood, watching him with mild curiosity. He seemed to be doing the same with her, and instead of appearing flattered as most females would be, her gaze turned to that short of hostile. Did he think she couldn't handle herself? That she was weak just because he was larger than her? No, that wasn't it. There was still something... off... about this wolf though, and frankly Sorin didn't like it. She wouldn't go trying to hide that, either. "The weather? It's quite lovely, if I do say so myself." Sarcasm curled its way into her words, a thin smile forming on her lips. It had been a few minutes since he had asked the question, but she had answered him. If he wanted to be sarcastic, there was not problem with her giving it right back to him, right?

Hayes held back the smirk that was begging to grow on his face. She did not appreciate his curiosity about her, and that made him pretty much dying to know what she was like. So far, he'd seen some heavy sarcasm by her response. Every single word she had said to him so far was dripping with sarcasm like honey. A cold breeze whipped the fur on his back to the right, and he turned his ears the same direction so they wouldn't flip flop inside out. He hated when that happened, it was just so embarrassing, you know? When the breeze was gone, he let them stand straight again, and he flicked his tail once more from behind him. He thought about advancing in her direction maybe a half step or so, but decided against it and instead thought about what she had said, and what he could say to counter the sarcasm. If he was going to get a chance to talk to her, really talk to her, he was going to have to get under her skin. Usually the best way of doing that was to play up on things they seemed to like. With this wolf? Sarcasm, he knew was one. That could get annoying if it was over-used though. Maybe time would tell what the others were, if he was lucky.
A wry smile built on his maw, "Tell me stranger, what brings you out to this awkward, empty cliff on a chilly day such as today?" Honestly, he wasn't sure why any wolf would want to come out. Hayes was just stupid, that was why he was out here. Honestly. How many wolves would find even the slightest peace or calm in sitting out on a damp, cold, windy day by the loud, angry ocean? Well, now you could say that you knew one. Hayes Kochac was not an average wolf. The cold air helped to clear his head, gray skies didn't hurt his eyes, and the repetitive motion and sounds of the ocean were peaceful to his head. To him, this was the ideal spot to think and to be alone. To others... probably not so much. So this was why, for the life of him, he could not understand why a wolf such as this stranger was out here? One thing he picked up upon quickly, was the fact that although she was tiny she could take care of herself. Why else would she be out here alone? She didn't need a man. She didn't need a pack. That was a point in her direction, she wouldn't cling to him. To be real, all Hayes wanted was a friend. And it pissed him off that he couldn't have that.[/blockquote]

What brought her out here? It took Sorin a few seconds to even register the question before confusion took hold of her. Why was she up here? She paused, turning her head to the sea. As she did, a large spray of ocean water splashed down on her fur. The ribbon that was little more than transparent flew up to cover her eyes just in time to avoid the salty water from getting in her eyes, but that left the rest of her fur to get soaked. Even the old Sorin wouldn't have been happy about that.
She paused, then shook her fur violently, casting water everywhere. Then end result was her standing there, blinking, as her fur stood on end in odd directions. She frowned at that.
Sorin didn't look at the male, instead turning her head inland. There was evidence of a recent war, the bodies were probably thrown over the cliff and into the sea. There was too much blood for there to be no bodies. How she knew that, she had no clue. So why was she here?
Her eyes surveyed the land before her, the wind causing her wet fur to flop, parting to allow her skin to be visible. In that small part of skin, one could see countless scars that ranged from small to large and back several times, each of them having the fur to grow over them to make them blend into everything else to make them practically, normally, invisible. The land made her feel sick. Somehow, sometime, something had happened to her here. she recognized it, but that was about it. So, she was here to remember it, correct? Well, that was her best bet, and she would go with that. "I'm here to remember." She said finally, slowly, and calmly. She didn't turn to look back at him, at least not immediately. No, she continued to stare off at the inland, where trees were scattered and torn, where the blood stained the ground. A shiver ran through her body, and she closed her eyes. Something bad had happened here, she wasn't sure she wanted to remember what happened here.
After a while, she turned her green eyes back to the male, locking onto his own eyes. She did not look away as she knew most females would, she had no fear of looking one in the eye. "What brings you up here?" Sorin asked, her ears twisting to fold against her head. Surprisingly, most, if not all of the sarcasm had left her tone. All that replaced it was a sort of distant-minded tone, as though she wasn't really focusing on the then and now. In truth, she wasn't, this wolf caused her nothing more than mild interest. What she was concerned about was exactly what the wolf had asked her. Why was she really there?
