varali , i've never lit a match, with intent to start a fire Thoughtful gray-blue eyes stared out at the water, just waiting for the sun to hit the right spot. She was thinking again... you know, about who she was. Varali was trying so hard to be the good wolf, but it was so hard. She was living a lie, and under the mask there was really a demon. She was, after all, the daughter and granddaughter of demons. That was where she came from. So she had inherited more of her father than her mother, was that so terrible? Well... yes, yes it was. Varali was bad, and deep inside she knew that but that would never be admitted to anyone, not even herself. So, there would always that awkward struggle between the bad inside of her and the very small amount of good that was still dominating, on the surface. She knew that if she was happy, it could be reached, but Varali hadn't been happy in a very long time. She just... didn't play nice with others. That was a problem, and she knew it, but she couldn't do anything about that, now could she? But, as she thought about it, she also began to drift into the realm of dreams. She was tired, it was warm, but there was a light breeze... well, not a light breeze, it was more of a heavy wind. So, it wasn't exactly calm outside. Varali found it very calming, though, and so she tried to sleep. She was succeeding.
The pattering of rain hitting the lake was soothing, and she was falling deeper into sleep. This was what happened when Varali stayed awake so she could explore instead of resting. Because she was thinking about her family, they entered her dreams. She remembered herself as a pup... she and her brother, Kelios arguing over who would leave with dad. Her father and mother were off in the other part of the den arguing, but Varali attacked Kelios. Sadly, the male pup was much larger than Varali. The two were fighting and her parents were just watching as Kelios was beating the shit out of Varali for attacking him. So, she had a big mouth, and a very minimal tolerance for pain. Varali whimpered as her brother bit her leg, hard, and could smell her own blood. That was when dad stepped in. Varali's mind drew a blank at most of the next scene, all she heard was a harsh, older-male voice barking loudly at a small male pup who was whimpering pathetically while a kind fae (her mother) tended to her wounds. Her back, left-leg twitched as she knew that the scars were still there, and had been for three years... nearly four, now. This wasn't where the flash backs ended though, there were more.
She awoke momentarily, but then fell back into a deep sleep that lasted for several more minutes. She remembered screaming at her mother, telling her she didn't belong there. With tears on her maw, the female agreed that Varali should go and find her father. It was a year later, Varali was one year old. When she found him, her father was happy to see her. Varali's bad attitude got increasingly worse, and she learned how to fight. She did, in fact, leave a scar on her brother's face because of a fight they got into. Now you see, Kelios wasn't happy that father preferred Velia. So, he attacked her in her sleep. Well, Varali was never a light sleeper and could sense he was coming. They fought again, and soon Kelios was scarred and blinded in his right eye. Dad didn't even seem angry when he found out. However, after a while, Varali did sense that she was killing all of her brother's dignity. And although she liked the feeling, she knew it was time to leave. So after a few months, Varali left her family to live on her own. Her grandmother found her, and reminded her of what she was becoming... a bad wolf. So, Varali was going to try her best to be good again. She left her family, for the last time. This was where her inner-conflict began. She couldn't decide what she wanted to be. But she would figure it out, in time.
So as the rain came down harder, Varali awoke with a start when she heard thunder in the distance. Thankfully, she was lying under a dry pine tree. It was one of the few that were around here, and spread apart from the rest. It would take a good few minutes to cross to another. Good thing it was a very large tree. She could freely stand up and stretch without hitting the lowest branch. She smiled up at the sky, a very cheerful smile for someone like this she-wolf. It was cold, dark, and rainy. And now, she felt awake. The sad part was, she didn't want to get wet. She loved watching the rain but she hated feeling the water on her own pelt when it wasn't supposed to be there. After all, it was already hard enough to keep herself clean, she didn't need that water all over her. So, Varali stayed under the big pine-tree. She was kind of hoping that she wouldn't get attacked by a family of raccoons, and she was also hoping that no other canine company would decide they wanted to be here. She didn't get along well with others, usually. She tried, and usually failed, but that was just Varali. She didn't have very good social skills, if you hadn't guessed. Although, one might discover that just by looking at her. Her pelt was dark black, with hints of blue scattered throughout it. She was average-sized with very long legs, and gray blue eyes that were usually quite dull. Nothing ever really excited her. Nothing ever made her super happy.
"I hope lightning doesn't strike my tree, that'd be a downer." Varali thought out loud to herself. She was starting to get bored, and that was never good. 'Maybe I should sleep some more...' She thought over the idea, and then decided not to. Instead, she stood up, and stretched out with a yawn. Now all the tired was gone from her. Surely, this rain had to end soon? It'd been going on for quite some time. How could one storm last so long? Without thinking about it, Varali stuck her head out of her cozy little tree shelter, and looked around. She could smell another wolf nearby, and so she stuck her head back inside. Maybe he, she could tell it was a he, wouldn't want to be around another wolf, either. 'That's not the way to think, Var, wolves are great.' With a sigh, she could tell this wasn't true, but kept denying it. After all, who wanted to be the bad guy? Who wanted to let their families down?
"Not me." she stated strongly.

Dragon Sometimes Goodbye is a second chance. It was very dark outside. Thunderous clouds were swirling over head. You could feel the humid static that was pulsing around everything; and the rain was starting to come down hard. It was impossible to tell whether it was night or day. It may as well have been night, however.
A lone wolf sat at the edge of the water and let the rain pound on his back. He had a very solemn look on his face, like he was deep in thought. Which he was. He was thinking about everything he has done, everything he wanted to do. And things he wished had never happened. He sighed and looked at his blurry reflection in the water. It was hard to see, for the rain made ripples in the formerly smooth water. He couldn't see much, for his pelt was very dark in color. It was varying shades of brown; darkest on the top becoming lighter until it was white underneath. What he could see, however, was his barbs. He had horns that were more like poison barbs that sat on his head, shoulders, lower back, and tail. His claws were the same. These barbs were very bright, and seemed to glow in the darkness that surrounded him. they were neon blue that shifted to a neon green from bottom to tip. These barbs were filled with poison. He controls it though, so if he hits you by mistake he can make it so the poison doesn't flow. If he means to hit you though, you are going to suffer painfully for hours as the poison fills your veins.
Basically, Dragon used to be evil. He used to belong in a pack where suffering was an acceptable way to kill someone. Where they wanted others to die. He didn't really like that though. It made him feel like there was no hope in the world. when he entered a good pack though, he felt too kind. Being kind was a hard thing to Dragon. It made him feel... funny. And he didn't really like the feeling. He was more of a neutral guy. If he wants to be sadistic, he can. If he wants to be nice, he can. But he's generally serious.
He frowned. He remembered the day he first saw his father's true form. An actual dragon. It sickened him. His mother; a kind wolf. With a dragon. The male wolf shook his head and looked out accross the lake. It was hard to see much of anything. But something did catch his eyes. All he saw was different shades of blue. And two grey-blue dots. Why would any other wolf be here? he asked himself. He hated approaching other wolves. He wasn't, how you say, a people person. He's not good at conversing or bonding or anything that's usually done in a group. He's more of a loner, but doesn't like being alone. He's actually a pretty awkward guy.
Regardless, he walked to the other side of the lake. To the other wolf. the lake wasn't very large, so it didn't take him long. Once he got there, he just kind of looked at the wolf. It was a female, long and thin, with dark fur. he huffed, and sat beside her. She was under a tree, safe from the rain. he didn't shake off the water from his pelt. He had enough on his shoulders, he didn't mind some material thing joining the emotional things. He just sat. He didn't say heloo, didn't say his name, just sat beside her. She'd probably think he was crazy. He didn't mind. He didn't care what other wolves thought of him. It just didn't matter to him.

&i'll show everyone that i can be good ;As the other wolf that was here came into view, the fae cocked her head upwards. Who was he? Why was he coming towards her? Instinctively, she tensed a bit. No one just walked over and sat down, saying nothing. Well, apparently this guy did. She lifted a brow as she watched him enter her little fortress of dry. He was wet, that was going to make it cold. Great. Stupid wolves, coming in and ruining her whole day. Well, no, not her whole day. She contemplated introducing herself. It seemed wise enough, if she didn't she'd simply look retarded. Although, he didn't appear very socially-skilled, either. Was he a loner too? Maybe. He didn't exactly seem like he was going to harm her, so she loosened up, and instead just stared at him. Was he going to say hello? Introduce himself? Anything? Apparently, not. Sigh, did she have to do everything around here? Well... anywhere, really? Normally, she would not have bothered. But, thanks to the conscience she'd been cursed with, she decided that it'd be okay to introduce herself at least. It'd make things less awkward. Maybe strike up a conversation - wasn't that what normal wolves did? Sure, sure.
"Erm, hello..." Varali stated awkwardly, she wasn't used to starting conversations. Now, was this the part where she introduced herself? Or did she wait? Eh, whatever. She decided she'd just introduce herself now to get it over with. "I'm Varali Imani," she paused, and then added, "nice to meet you." Well, this was how her introduction and if she did it wrong she didn't really give a flying fuck. She sat up onto her back legs, stretching slightly but mostly because she didn't like being in such a vulnerable position while next to someone so... dangerous-looking. That was the right word for it. Varali tilted one ear slightly to the side. Haha, yeah, she wasn't exactly a people-person, as you'd say it. But, she tried to be. Which failed, and honestly it was pretty amusing.

Dragon Sometimes Goodbye is a second chance.[/center] It was quiet for a little while. Dragon just sat and listened as the rain fell on the water. Listened to the thunder clashing off in the distance after a bright flash of lightning struck the earth. He didn't see what was so scary about lightning. Some were terrified of it. It was just light and electricity. Thousands of volts of electricity. What's so scary about that.
When the female spoke, he turned to her, for she had ruined the silent non-tranquility. His horns and barbs and claws seemed to glow in the dark, as did his eyes. They were all the same color and filled with the same poisonous acid that could kill anyone he wished. Well, not so much his eyes, but they way he looked made it seem like he was full of hate. He wasn't really, he just needed some lovin. The female seemed confused, as if she wasn't really sure what she was saying. She looked deep in thought, as if she was trying to make an effort to say something, anything really. He blinked a few times at her. Though she was small, she didn't look that vulnerable. He wasn't in the mood for a prank any way. He turned back out to the rain.
He had a feeling she didn't like the wet. He looked at his pelt, which was full of water. He glanced back at her, then stood up. He bent his legs, as if he was about to shake all his wetness onto the female beside him, but decided against it. He stood up fully, which showed how rediculessly tall he was. He padded off to a tree behind them, and shook all the water from his fur. He didn't want to make his... new friend, uncomfortable. He took four long strides and was back beside the female. "Dragon." He said as he sat back down. He hoped she'd understand that was his name. He looked back in her direction. "Varali? That's quite a name." He said. He'd never heard the name before. Of course, who was he to talk. His name pretty much described him.
Dragon frowned. He looked at his dirt filled claws. They shined even in the darkness. He didn't really mind being who he was, he just wondered what it'd be like if he was just a normal wolf. One with friendly parents and minimal to no powers. His veins pulsed with poison, the poison that killed wolves by the dozen. He could make it rain poison if he wanted. You could say he's powerful. He looked back to Varali. I wonder if she has any powers... he inquired. He placed his paw back in the dirt and looked up at the sky.
Fighting could be heard in the distance. He wondered what was going on, yes, but hadn't been in the pack long enough to feel loyal to it. He didn't even consider himself a pack member, though he was kappa. He'd be better off as a loner. So why didn't he just leave? Maybe because it was nice in the pack. Because the wolves weren't perfect, and the environment wasn't terrible. It was nice. Nicer than some of the packs he's been in.
He flicked his tail, which was half of his body legnth. He brought it by his feet, and picked up a small rock with his claw like tail. He looked at it, then threw it into the water. It made a small splash, but it was hard to tell with the rain going on. He turned towards Varali. "Do you ever wish you were different? That you could change yourself to be a better wolf?" He asked, knowing it was out of the blue. He just wondered if others felt the same way he did about things like that.

i wear this angel's crown to cover up my devil's frown ;
Varali took a second glance at the male. He wasn't necessarily... bad-looking, as much as he was just interesting-looking. Hell, he made Varali feel pretty normal. Of course, looks-wise, Varali never really looked too out of place. Her pelt was darker, with streaks of blue swirlies running throughout it. Pale silver claws, dark blue eyes, often looking almost green thanks to the yellow that hinted around her pupils and outer-rims. In fact, taking a second look at Varali, she wasn't as plain as she seemed to think she was. She was an attractive female, in very subtle ways. For example, her big, curious eyes were much too pretty. Her lean, slender body was perfectly accented with a long, bushy tail. Long, graceful legs held up the small frame, with fierce claws at the bottom. A very defined jaw-line stood out on the female's face, and tall ears put the whole thing together. Not to mention, the childish voice that had that perfect hint of femininity. She didn't seem all that beautiful first glance, but Varali wasn't average. She never was, and never will be. This male, though... he was something alright. Very unique.
Hearing his response, she wondered for a moment if 'Dragon' was actually his name. She decided that it must have been. Clearly, the animal was a wolf. He was just, different? That was a good word for him. Varali listened to him talking. "Varali, yep, that's me. It means hope - haha, that's so incredibly ironic. Well, Dragon's different, too." She paused, and looked him over once again. She watched as he walked away, behind another tree, and shook his fur out. Well, that was... polite. Was this when she said thank you or some shit like that? Well, probably, but she decided not to because that's just who she was. Nice'un, huh? As he came back, she finished her thought. "Your name suits you, I must say." She nodded shortly, flicking her tail from behind her and tilting one ear to the side. This male, he was fascinating in her mind. Just so much different than anything she'd ever seen around before. And probably, much more different than anything she'd see in a while. May as well remember him, huh?
Listening to the distant fighting, Varali wasn't very phased. Sure, she was supposed to be a member of this pack, but why bother when she didn't feel like she belonged? And maybe that was her fault, but Varali didn't actually feel like she belonged anywhere. She was a loner at heart. Truthfully, Varali just hadn't wanted to get caught an unwanted loner, so she explained her desire to join the pack. And maybe this wasn't a total lie, Varali did like the company.... although, she really did never talk to anyone. She kind of just, observed. She watched how the others lived, played, protected, fell in love. Now, she didn't watch anyone creepily, just kind of out there. How did the humans say it? People-watchers? Yeah, that's what Varali did in her spare time. Which was often, she didn't do much for the pack.
As he spoke again, Varali started at him curiously. Did he really just ask that? Something totally un-small talk that she could reply to it easily? She thought about the question for a moment, and then answered him. "Trust me, you have no idea how badly I want to be different." She frowned. She wanted nothing more than to be a good wolf. "It's kind of hard to change though... I'm not exactly a 'good wolf' if you know what I mean. I'm trying though." She thought again for a moment, before adding another thought. "Then you think - can one really change who they've been their whole life? Someone they were born as? Or are all efforts useless, you know?" So, maybe it was random, but they were thoughts she never really shared. Cos no one ever really cared, or asked. Sometimes, a stranger could be the easiest wolf to talk to. [/blockquote]
